When Fashion and Nature Collide – The Creativity Issue

Hello!
I present the theme of our March edition, creativity, through 24 of my favorite outfits styled for When Fashion and Nature Collide (WFNC). Our March issue also represents the anniversary of the original collaboration between myself, Lisa and Darren – the « Happy Trio » that recently launched the Threadless store Fashioned by Nature.

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. This collaboration brings so much joy and inspiration. Although it represents relentless hours each month to think, organise, create, rethink and shoot the looks, I only see the positive energy from our project. We are ready to take you for another ride and I can’t wait to see where our 2019 adventure takes us. We…

Interview with Willow Croft, Author of “Salted Earth”

Mt. Misery Press

The following is an interview with Willow Croft, author of the short story « Salted Earth, » which appears in Neon Druid: An Anthology of Urban Celtic Fantasy (available now on Amazon in digital and paperback).

1) What inspired you to write your Neon Druid story, “Salted Earth”?

I’ve worked in animal rescue and wildlife rescue for years, both as a volunteer and as a paid employee. I even had the opportunity to become involved in a hoarding case investigation, and wrote an affidavit for a court case involving neglected cats. The cats were relocated to a new, no-kill cat shelter that had been formed to house them (which is still in operation today). So, the cause of animal rights is still close to my heart, even though I haven’t had the opportunity to get involved in the cause in my new location. Lately, I’ve been thinking about what would…

Sailing on…

Other Worlds

A Sunday announcement to our readers.

Aeryn and I want to say thank you.  You have bought more than 1,000 Rat Tales books and helped raise £1,500 for APOPO’s HeroRATs.

It’s been a bit of a journey. The first book was published in a small run in 2017. It only cost £2.99 because I did everything myself.

Well – maybe I had a little help from Leeloo.

My entire stock sold out, so I decided to take this a bit more seriously. I found the fabulous Tofu Soup, an artist and rat-person on Twitter, and she agreed to vastly improve the covers.

She is much better at arting than me. Priss, as you see, agreed and approved the new-look books.

In-between Ship Rats and Pirats, Priss and Ripley agreed to work on a humour book with the handsome and educated Alloway. Priss revealed what was in the stars…

When Fashion and Nature Collide – November Edition

Hello!
It sleeps on our notes, gives paws on our pencil, walks on the keyboard of our computer, settles in our favorite chair and even drinks the tea in our cup… The cat is king in our houses and present in literature, painting, music, cinema and history as well. This indispensable furry friend of writers and poets is the star of our November edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide.

With the cooler weather coming we thought What better time to cozy on the sofa with a good book? Since it’s difficult to think of books without imagining a cat perched high at the top of a bookshelf or sleeping on our lap while we read, it inspired us to dedicated this issue to the cats of the great classics of literature and comics. From Bébert, Celine’s cat, to La chatte anglaise of Balzac and Garfield, the greedy and…

Behind the scenes with 3C Style!

The Arty Plantsman

Ever looked at a fashion blog and wondered what happens at a photo shoot? Imagining an entourage of assistants, make up artists etc?  I know I did, so I was fascinated to be involved in taking photos for my beloved friend, the gorgeous Dominique of 3C Style, during my recent visit to Montreal. You can see the end results of some of these shoots on Dominique’s recent ‘When Fashion and Nature Collide – October 2018

Essential supplies.

It appears that the only essential requirements, besides a model and photographer are:

Car full of clothes.

Diet Coke. This appears to be 3C Style’s primary source of sustenance and energy.

Chips/Crisps. Though not as essential as the coke, it appears that 3C Style is also addicted to salty snacks.

Spray bottle of water (see later).

Places to get changed. These vary from bathrooms to the…

When Fashion and Nature Collide – October Edition

Hello!
I love Halloween, a colourful celebration that punctuates autumn with a touch of pleasant madness. No tricks, just lots of treats! That is what you’ll find in our October edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide. This Halloween issue holds a special meaning as all the fashion photos were done by my dear friend Darren while he was visiting Montreal. He captured the beauty of my hometown like a Pro! A big thanks goes to another friend of ours, Dee-Dee, who’s patience and laughter gives us renewed energy. Thankfully, she even helped us carrying all the clothing and accessories for the shoot. Also, I want to point out that there are three spider pictures in this issue. These peculiar yet stunning creatures are more beautiful than frightful, but if you have an arachnophobia be warned. We guaranteed thrills, but not creepy ones. We propose to you lots of fashion fun and…

When Fashion and Nature Collide – September Issue

Hello!
Welcome to our September edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide. In September, as the weather cools down and the leafs start to change colour, our minds turn to Fall. Well, I’m just going to come out with it: I love autumn. It’s my favourite season. I’m hardly unusual ––I think we, fashionistas, all do. Love to see the new collections and to style outfits inspired by the catwalks’ coolest looks. For this Issue, I had an idea. From my love for trench (there must be some Brits in me) I suggested we do a special featuring casual outfits for wet days and weekends inspired by the runway 2018 trends. Lisa and I have created a trendy T-Shirt featuring some of our WP friends’ dogs so it was a perfect opportunity to show it. My fantasy was that Darren would be the model as I knew he…
