Backlit Clouds
In between the hail storms of Tuesday 26th April, there were sunny skies filled with dramatically backlit cumulus clouds.
I also snapped a couple of quick photos of urban trees in blossom.
This is a typically British scene; a church nestling between two pubs.

Herb Robert
This little flower was abundant in Credenhill Wood back in August. I think it is Herb Robert. It is also known as death come quickly, or in the USA stinky bob. When it is crushed it gives off a nasty niff which is said to repel mosquitos.
Some folk apparently used to use it as a mouthwash. This seems a little strange as the smell of it is described variously as being like burning tyres, or mousey – so you might end up with a mousey tongue. As with most plants, old fashioned herbalists claimed that it cured all sorts of things to do with livers and intestines. However, it does seem as if it was widely used for toothache and nose bleeds in the olden times.
Lilac is Nearly Here
I think this will be the final update, before the grand finale, on the adventures of the lilac bud. Last time it was forming individual lilac florets. Now some of the flowers are in bloom.
Pretty in Pink
The Herb Robert, Geranium robertianum is now flowering. I have blogged more information previously on « Herb Robert »
In the Red
The red tulips are putting on a fine display. Their heads were merrily bobbing in the wind today.
The multicoloured tulips open out later than the red ones. I have blogged about the fascinating history of tulips in « Tiptoeing Through the Tulips« .
